Kent housebuilders Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes recently donated £1,500 to BeChange, close to their Richmond Park development in Whitfield, as part of their Community Fund initiative.
Open to everyone in the Aylesham community and the surrounding area, BeChange works with local people to develop their skills, wellbeing and confidence.
The charity’s work varies from delivering practical and emotional help at critical moments and teaching new skills, to improving financial understanding. In the last year alone, the charity has supported 158 adults and distributed 4,500kg of food.
The £1,500 donation comes from the Barratt Foundation’s Community Fund initiative, the housebuilder’s charity partnership which supports local communities wherever Barratt Redrow operates.
The donation will be used by the charity for activities in the community garden, designed to enhance wellbeing through rewarding and relaxing tasks that ground people in nature.
Angela Doggett, CEO of BeChange, said: “BeChange has been supporting local people in Aylesham since 1997. Over that time, we’ve grown into a thriving community hub, relied on for a helping hand by our community, whether in their times of critical need or when they’re looking to build a new skill and make new connections.
“BeChange has been part of the Aylesham community since 1997. Over the years, we’ve grown into a thriving community hub where people can find support when they need it most, develop new skills, build confidence, and make meaningful connections.”
“Support by partners like Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes is essential for us to continue our work as a lifeline for local people, and we’re incredibly grateful for their generosity.”
Natalie Perry, Sales & Marketing Director at Barratt David Wilson Kent, added: “BeChange is a vital part of Aylesham’s close-knit community. Thanks to its support, local people know they always have a place to go, whether they’re starting from scratch or in need of a boost to their confidence.
“Having a central community hub looking out for the Aylesham community is incredibly powerful, and it’s a pleasure to be able to support BeChange as they deliver a wide range of services, from distributing food to hosting drop-in one-to-one support sessions.
“As we build homes in Kent, we’re committed to supporting the local organisations and initiatives that make such a different to people across the county.”
