A man has suffered life-threatening injuries after a train struck a car, police say.
Emergency services were called to the line near Sandwich at 4.32pm on Tuesday after the crash at a level crossing in Richborough, near Sandwich.
The driver was airlifted to a London hospital for emergency treatment while the police worked to establish how the vehicle came to be on the tracks.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said the man was airlifted to hospital.
They added no other injuries had been reported, and inquiries were ongoing into the circumstances leading up to the collision.
Police have launched a probe into the devastating crash.
