The police were alerted to several reports of nuisance behaviour in the town on the evening of Friday 31st October 2025.

Teenagers were seen throwing eggs in Memorial Recreation Ground and in the High Street, with both vehicles and houses nearby targeted. Officers attended and enquiries led to the swift implementation of a 48 hour dispersal order, covering the town centre and seafront areas.

Such legislation grants officers additional powers to move on anyone causing a nuisance in a specified area, and – if necessary – arrest them, should they later return.

Following this action, at around 8.30pm, a 12 year old boy was arrested following damage to a police vehicle in Broadstairs High Street. The boy was taken home and spoken to in the presence of his parents. He was issued with a community resolution after agreeing to stay at home and take steps to address his behaviour.

Several other teenagers were moved on after reportedly causing a nuisance in the town centre, while additional patrols remained in the area to provide reassurance.
