£17,500 Housebuilder Partnership Supports Growth Of Girls’ Rugby In Canterbury

Premium housebuilder Redrow South East is continuing its support for Canterbury Rugby Football Club with a £3,500 contribution, marking the third year of a five-year partnership worth £17,500 in total.

Redrow has supported Canterbury RFC since 2024, with its long-term backing helping the community club expand its thriving girls’ rugby programme while supporting opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.

This year’s £3,500 contribution will help the club continue to deliver structured training sessions for its girls’ ruby team, and create more opportunities for players across all teams to take part in matches. The funding forms part of Redrow’s wider commitment to supporting grassroots organisations that encourage active lifestyles and bring people together in the communities where it builds.
Located less than seven miles from Redrow’s The Hoplands development in Hersden, Canterbury RFC has been at the heart of the local community since 1929. The club provides opportunities for people of different ages and abilities to get involved in the sport, with men’s, women’s, girls’, youth and wheelchair rugby all represented.

Canterbury RFC’s first team currently competes in National League Two East, while its wider community programmes help introduce the sport to the next generation of players across Canterbury.

Luke Cooper, Managing Director at Redrow South East, said: “We’re proud to be marking the third year of our partnership with Canterbury Rugby Football Club and continuing to support a club that plays such an important role in the local community.

“Grassroots sport brings people together and creates opportunities for people of all ages to get involved. It’s particularly rewarding to see our support helping Canterbury RFC grow its girls’ rugby programme, and our five-year partnership reflects our long-term commitment to supporting thriving communities across Kent.”

Giles Hilton, Chair of Canterbury Rugby Football Club, said: “Redrow’s backing has been important in helping us grow our girls’ and youth sections and provide opportunities for more people across Canterbury to enjoy rugby.

“Having the security of a five-year partnership makes a real difference to a community club like ours, allowing us to plan ahead and continue developing opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. It’s great to have a local business that shares our commitment to community sport, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Redrow.”
