A Staplehurst nursing home is celebrating after receiving a prestigious national award recognising the quality of its end-of-life care.
Iden Manor Nursing Home has achieved the Gold Standards Framework Quality Hallmark Award for End of Life Care, reflecting the team’s commitment to supporting residents and their families with dignity, kindness and compassion.
During the assessment, the dedication, professionalism and compassionate approach of colleagues throughout the home were recognised. The assessor noted that the Gold Standards Framework had become “the spine to all care delivered to residents and families”.
Among the areas highlighted was Iden Manor’s approach to advance care planning, which helps residents express their wishes, priorities and preferences for their future care.
The home was also recognised for supporting residents to remain at Iden Manor wherever possible as their needs change, surrounded by familiar people in a place they know as home.
Other strengths identified during the assessment included strong clinical governance and frailty management, compassionate support for residents and their families, and the innovative use of artificial intelligence to help improve the auditing of care plans.
Iden Manor’s work within the wider community was also acknowledged, including its Iden Plus initiative, which provides opportunities for people living locally to access advice, activities and additional support.
The home’s continued investment in its workforce was another important part of the achievement. Iden Manor supports staff development at every level, including apprenticeships and opportunities for those aspiring to become the nurses of the future.
