Fairways Care Home in New Romney proved that it’s never too late to discover something new as they came together for inspiring day of learning sign language.
The care home came alive with curiosity and laughter as everyone joined in to learn the A–Z of sign language. From fingerspelling their own names to proudly spelling out the word ‘LOVE’, residents and staff enjoyed every moment of mastering this form of communication.

Activities like this are at the heart of life at Fairways. Enriching experiences not only bring joy and social connection, but also help maintain cognitive skills, boost confidence, and encourage curiosity vital elements of wellbeing at every stage of life.
Activities Coordinator, Rica Joy Pongan-De Jesus said: “It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged and enthusiastic. Learning sign language reminded us that communication isn’t just about words it’s about understanding, empathy, and connection. The smiles on everyone’s faces said it all.”
