Thanks to films like Fishermen’s Friends and Fishermen’s Friends 2, the poor hardworking fishermen and women have been regarded as rather good singers but a bit grumpy and killjoys.
But not the fishermen and women of Tankerton and Whitstable who have gone the extra mile this year to bring a bit of Christmas Spirit to the Kent coast. They have got together and used all their fishing nets, lobster pots and other equipment to build a huge Christmas tree.
It does look rather splendid and will bring a smile to many a passer-by’s face, even if there is still the aroma of fish in the air. We thank theses good people for sharing the Christmas fun and wish them good luck when they come to deconstruct the tree in the New Year.
