“Chatham Waters is a continuously growing neighbourhood. With a range of residential offerings including build-to-rent, PRS, affordable rent, shared ownership homes and a future care home starting on site imminently, we’re committed to creating a place for everyone. Having a range of onsite amenities is important to supporting this and we have worked closely with Pradeep and the team to ensure this new store is high-quality and responds to the needs of our Chatham Waters community.
“This new store is the start of an exciting waterside retail and leisure offering coming to Chatham Waters, creating new places for our community to enjoy and meet their neighbours, as well as bringing new jobs to the area and boosting the local economy in Medway.”

At a special event marking the official opening of the new store, Mayor of Medway, Cllr Nina Gurung added: “I am very pleased to officially declare open the impressive Londis Convenience Store at Chatham Waters, Gillingham, adjacent to the tranquil, beautiful riverside walks and open public spaces for the enjoyment of locals and visitors alike. I’m very happy to learn that alongside premium properties, 200 new affordable homes will also be built at Chatham Waters, and that there are plans in the pipeline to promote exciting annual community events here.

“This highlights the increasing need for local amenities and Peel Waters has done well by attracting Londis, a reputable British convenience store chain to this well-positioned site. As I have said already, our wonderful Borough has immense potential for growth and this is just beginning to be realised; it is no surprise that we are increasingly attracting businesses and investors across all sectors.

“Having visited the brand-new store, I’m impressed with Londis Chatham Waters offering a great range of quality grocery and daily essentials at the residents’ doorstep, alongside additional facilities such as on-site bakery, cash machine, phone top-ups and parcel delivery. The opening of this convenient one-stop shop for multiple services has also created 15 jobs locally, thereby directly boosting our local economy. The excitement at today’s store opening is really palpable and I wish Londis Chatham Waters Franchise Manager Pradeep Kumar Velayudan and his friendly staff team all the success.”
