New Community Launches In Minster Offering Selection Of Family Homes

Rental prices in Thanet have seen a 9.5% increase over the past year, according to recent data from the Office for National Statistics.1 With rental costs continuing to increase, those looking to put down more permanent roots in Thanet should look to David Wilson Homes’ new development in Minster Roman Walk which has now launched with show homes to view.

Named ‘Roman Walk’ in a nod to the Roman road running adjacent to the development, the full development will offer 133 homes with a collection of three to five-bedroom homes, available with a mixture of tenures. Homes will appeal to a range of households both within Minster and beyond, including first time buyers, downsizers and growing families.

Having already achieved 10% of Thanet District Council’s housebuilding target to buy or build at least 400 new affordable homes by 2027 before launching, David Wilson Homes’ Roman Walk development is aiming to tackle inaccessible housing head on. With factors like the cost-of-living crisis, the housing crisis and rising inequality having a profound impact on the public, the housebuilder has made a concerted effort to make Roman Walk available to a variety of residents with 30% of homes deemed affordable.

Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director for David Wilson Kent commented: “With the rental costs in the Thanet area taking up a huge amount of people’s earnings, David Wilson Kent is committed to helping local people make the move onto the property ladder. This is why we have committed to making 30% of properties available at Roman Walk affordable homes. We intend to offer many options for buyers at different stages in their homeownership journey – serving a diverse range of the Minster community.”

Karen Dunn, Head of Land and Planning for David Wilson Kent, added: “Maintaining and improving accessibility for the Minster community has been one of our key points of interest during the planning stages of this development. Lots of thought and consideration has gone into how we embed accessibility into the site – from conducting thorough research on the proximity to public transport, local schools, health facilities and employment opportunities, to allowing wheelchair access so that gardens and routes are as easy to use as possible. Roman Walk has been designed with a range of needs in mind for the Minster community.”

Located in one of the largest villages in Thanet District of Kent, David Wilson Kent’s Roman Walk development offers residents quaint village living without compromising on transport links or amenities. Located just a 30-minute drive away from Kent hotspots, such as the University of Kent and Canterbury city centre, Roman Walk benefits from the creation of new connections to the Bridleway running toward Ramsgate and Herne Bay.

The initial range of homes at Roman Walk include three, four and five-bedroom homes starting at £450,995.
