Plans For Padel Courts At Hawley Garden Centre

The Pulse Padel company has submitted plans to build four double and one single padel tennis court on grey belt land at Hawley Garden Centre, near Dartford.

There are only a few days left to register comments for or against the plans with the local council.

The courts proposed on land next to the main garden centre area would be Dartford’s first padel facility, one of the fast-growing sports in the world. There is also a question if the indoor courts, would contain all the noise from the game.

The application includes a car park with 35 spaces, including electric vehicle charging points and accessible bays.

Company director of Pulse Padel, Martin Smickler said it was an opportunity for the town to experience “a major boost to its health, wellbeing, and community spirit.”

Mr Smickler said “This landmark venue could also feature ping pong zones, showers and changing facilities, a Padel Shop, and vibrant indoor and outdoor social areas designed to bring people together on and off the court. This project is more than a sports centre—it’s a community movement. From day one, the Dartford Padel Centre has been developed with local people at its heart.”

““We have already reached out to 15 local schools, offering free padel sessions to students as part of a mission to inspire healthier lifestyles, increase physical activity, and introduce young people to one of the fastest-growing sports in the world. This initiative is set to become a cornerstone of Dartford’s wider health and wellbeing strategy, giving thousands of children access to a fun, inclusive, and confidence-building sport.”
