19 Small Boats Escorted Into England Yesterday

It has bene reported that 601 migrants arrived on our shores yesterday. The UK Border Force and RNLI helped 19 small boats make the journey to deliver the migrants into the UK. A number were brought into Dover aboard Border Force catamaran Hurricane whilst others arrived in Ramsgate.

The mostly male group who came into Dover were escorted into a new, secluded part of the dock – the former jetfoil terminal – behind a large fence and out of view of the public.

Thankfully Parliament is currently closed so new Prime Minister Liz Truss or new Home Secretary Suella Braverman do not need to worry about answering any questions for a while longer.

That’s the 601 they know about!

It comes as the UK received a record of over 63,000 asylum applications in June 2022, the most in nearly two decades, and accepted almost one-fourth of them, according to government figures released in August.

Thee figures were boosted by a number of Ukranians escaping the war, although these figures do not account for those resettled or relocated under two 2021 schemes for people fleeing the Taliban in Afghanistan. Made under the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme and Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy, they will be included in future government immigration statistics.

People from Afghanistan, Syria, Eritrea, Sudan and Iran made up the top five nationalities applying for official protection in the UK.

At least 25,000 migrants have crossed the English Channel to Kent so far in 2022, according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Defence. There have been 8,747 crossings detected in August so far, with 3,733 in the last week of the month alone.

Migrant crossings for 2022 have now exceeded the total number of crossings in 2021, which was already a record year.

Many people are now fearing an invasion from terrorist groups, such is the number of young men making the crossing. The UK Government have also gone very quiet regarding the Rwanda plan, which was put in place by the previous UK Home Secretary Priti Patel. Whether this plan will continue under the new Home Secretary is yet to be announced.

Numbers are expected to continue rising as more migrants arrive in the UK.
