Fire At Residential Property In Folkestone

A road has been closed after a large fire broke out at a flat in Folkestone yesterday.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said it sent six fire engines to tackle the blaze at the property on Dover Road, near Grove Road, at about 1.30pm on Tuesday 7th July.

People in the area were told to keep windows and doors shut due to the smoke but that advice was lifted at about 4pm. Fve fire engines and a height vehicle remained at the scene until later.

Kent Police said its officers were still present at about 5pm while a section of Dover Road outside the building was closed.

At 9pm, fire crews confirmed they had left the scene, but the road remained closed off.

One person was treated by paramedics due to smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
