Kent Police Road unit had to do a double take when they saw this HGV pass them in lane 3 of the motorway yesterday on the M20.
Not only was it driving in an incorrect lane, it was travelling well above the speed limit with no regard for other road users. It was not a shock to see that the vehicle had a a continental plate on it, as speeding seems to be a daily occurrence on the motorways these days!!
Once the HGV had been pulled over to the side of the road, a Graduated Fixed Penalty Notice was issued to this supposedly professional driver! whether the penalty will be paid is another questions, as the driver will soon be back in France. It is about time that penalties were payable on the spot, to prevent overseas drivers not paying.
