Housebuilder Opens Discovery House Doors To Council Representatives

Barratt David Wilson Homes, the housebuilder behind the development Spitfire Green on New Haine Road, Ramsgate recently welcomed representatives from Thanet District Council to explore its onsite Discovery House.

A unique take on typical show home formats, the Discovery House spotlights the housebuilder’s environmentally-friendly construction techniques and technologies being implemented into the development’s new homes. The visit was made as part of the property handover between the council and the housebuilder to ensure knowledge sharing into the council’s operational and maintenance teams.

Serving to physically demonstrate sustainable building practices to the public, the Discovery House is a valuable resource in communicating how measures to decarbonise the housing sector and enhance energy efficiency are actively being included in the development of new housing stock.

Visitors to the Discovery House can view the inner workings of the homes at Spitfire Green, with exposed bricks, pipes, heating systems, and detailed information displayed throughout the show home explaining how each element helps to contribute towards a net-zero future.

Natalie Perry, Sales & Marketing Director for Barratt David Wilson Kent, commented, “Thanet District Council’s recent visit to our Spitfire Green development in Ramsgate follows the council’s purchase of 41 homes within the development for social and affordable rent. Our Discovery House is also open to the public and aims to give prospective buyers further insight into how seemingly small features like lower-carbon heating and quality insulation can have a huge impact on reducing the overall financial strains of rising energy costs, as well as significantly helping national and global efforts towards achieving net-zero.”

Barratt David Wilson Kent has recently launched its newest phase at Spitfire Green, a collection of three to four-bedroom homes. The housebuilder is also offering a selection of homes on its ‘Kickstart Scheme’, where homes are available from £165,000 for a 50% share.
