Local housebuilder, Barratt David Wilson Homes, has raised £215,612 for children’s charity Demelza over the last 12 months. Funds raised will be used to support the charity in making life the best it can be for children with serious or life-limiting conditions – and for their families, and for all those who love them.
Demelza, the chosen charity of the year for the housebuilder’s Kent division, supports children with complex medical and social requirements, and their families, providing outstanding clinical care and emotional support, personalised to adapt around their specific circumstances. The charity provides care for children and their families across Kent, South East London and East Sussex, from first diagnosis for as long as they are needed.
Over the past year, Barratt David Wilson Homes has supported the charity with a number of fundraising activities including a winter wonderland charity ball auction, golf days, go-karting events, sponsored staff skydives and internal department fundraising.
The total amount raised will support Demelza in continuing to enhance the quality of life for all the families that require the support of the charity’s services. Some of the services that the funds will enrich is providing support for siblings, as well as helping its end of life and bereavement suites in Kent and South East London.
Louise Earl, Account Manager at Demelza, commented: “A huge thank you to everyone at Barratt David Wilson Kent for their incredible support over the past year as our charity partner. The fantastic amount of money raised will allow us to continue providing support to children with serious or life-limiting conditions and their families across Kent and South East London. It’s been an amazing year working with the housebuilder, and we have thoroughly enjoyed the various fundraising activities from bake sales to watching the senior team jump out of a plane!”
William Walsh, Managing Director at Barratt David Wilson Kent, added: “Supporting Demelza over the past year has been exceptionally rewarding, and we are proud to have raised £215,612 in support of their vital work. This partnership has also provided the Kent team with valuable opportunities to work on various activities, strengthening both our internal relationships and our connection with this local charity.
“Demelza plays a critical role in supporting children and young people that need it most, offering families the opportunity to create lasting memories together during their most challenging times. Every family deserves love and care, and I truly believe that the work Demelza does for children, young people and families is extraordinary. We hope our contributions continue to make a meaningful difference and we wish Demelza the best for the future!”
