Kent Victorious In One Day Cup

Kent County Cricket team have won the One Day Cup after defeating Lancashire at Trent Bridge.

It is Kent’s first full day cup win since 1978. Kent were put in to bat first and set an impressive 307. 20-year-old Joe Evison who has only been with Kent a few weeks set the standard with a fine 97.

Lancashire set off in chase of the total and looked like they may win the trophy with Jennings and Croft scoring well. But the tide turned when Croft went to a superb catch from Alex Blake. Lancashire were all out for 285.

Man of the match Joey Evison “I had such a good time here, so to play in a final at Trent Bridge is really special, but the reason I’m leaving Nottinghamshire is because of opportunities and it was nice to show the Kent fans what I’m made of. It was disappointing not to get the hundred. What cost my wicket was lack of concentration after a review the ball before I got out. But, if you had suggested to me at the start of the day that I was going to get 97, take two wickets and a catch, I’d have bitten your hand off”.

Lancashire captain Keaton Jennings “We had opportunities to win but unfortunately we weren’t quite good enough. It is a tough pill to swallow, as we’ve been to two finals this season. The fielding was definitely a factor. It was one of those days when we probably weren’t at our best. Our fielding throughout the competition has been exceptional, and you get to a final and that lets you down. But that’s sport”.
