Dreamland in Margate has reopened a much-loved ride after it has been closed for almost 10 years away.
People visiting Kent’s oldest theme park will now be able to ride the Wild River log flume, which features two high-thrill drops with plunges of 50ft and 30ft.
It was last seen at the park in 2016 and returns in 2025 as the fairground celebrates its 105th birthday this year.
Guests at the park will be able to use nearby water guns to spray riders as they go past with coin-operated pistols – shame they aren’t free! Visitors can buy ponchos before boarding the ride if they want to avoid getting too wet.
The log flume will line up alongside the giant Big Wheel, Pirate Ship, Dodgems and Rock ‘N’ Roller roller coaster and a host of other attractions.
A Dreamland Spokesperson said “This summer, we are delighted to welcome a brand new headline attraction to Dreamland’s ride line-up. The Wild River is a welcome return of the classic Log Flume to the park, and we can’t wait for guests to take the plunge”.
However, one of the site’s best-known attractions is set to remain closed, after The Scenic Railway was forced to shut last August after a ride came to a halt as a gaping hole appeared in the wooden tracks and so the ride will remain closed for 2025.
