Residents of Wombwell Hall Care Home in Gravesend were treated to a larger-than-life surprise when Mark Labbett, famously known as “The Beast” from ITV’s The Chase, visited with the cast of Jack and the Beanstalk. Mark, who is set to play the fearsome giant in the upcoming pantomime at the Woodville Theatre, delighted residents with a sneak preview of his villainous role.
Accompanied by his fellow performers, Mark brought the magic of panto to life, turning up in full character as the panto baddie. Everyone joined in the fun, booing enthusiastically at the “giant” and cheering on Jack’s thrilling quest with the legendary magic beans.
Claire Skinner, Manager at Wombwell Hall Care Home, expressed her gratitude, saying: “We were absolutely thrilled to meet Mark and the cast of Jack and the Beanstalk. The performance was full of energy, fun, and festive cheer, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces. We’re so grateful for this wonderful experience—it truly made their day!”
The event was organised by the care home’s activities Jenny Gibbons, which coincided with the festive buzz in Gravesend, as the cast of the pantomime left the care home to attend to the town’s official Christmas light switch-on.
The pantomime opens at the Woodville Theatre on December 6th and promises to be a highlight of the season in Gravesend. For tickets and more information, visit the Woodville Theatre’s website.
