Three Teenagers Arrested Following Death Of Man In Leysdown

Three teenagers, including a 16-year-old girl, have been arrested following the death of a man in Leysdown, Sheppey, on Sunday 10th August evening.

A spokesman for Kent Police said ‘Three arrests have been made following the death of a man in Leysdown-on-Sea on the Isle of Sheppey.
“Kent Police were called to the Warden Bay Road area shortly after 7pm on Sunday. It was reported that an altercation broke out involving a small group of people and a man was assaulted, sustaining serious injuries. Our officers attended along with paramedics and a man in his 40s was confirmed deceased. His next of kin has been informed.’

He added ‘A short while later, a 16-year-old girl and two boys, aged 14 and 15, were arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody pending further enquiries.’

Police investigating the death of a man in Leysdown-on-Sea have recovered a silver Volkswagen Golf believed to belong to the victim from a nearby car park.

Chris Prime, landlord of the pub, confirmed officers had attended the premises on Sunday night to review CCTV from 12 cameras covering both inside and outside the venue. He said the footage showed the man involved had not been inside the pub and had not approached the beach from Warden Bay.

‘It is assumed he had come along the beach from the Leysdown direction,’ Mr Prime explained.
‘The alarm was raised to us when we were asked to use the emergency defibrillator mounted on our property, which was taken over before the emergency services arrived.’

Mr Prime personally transported the device to the scene to assist. He declined to comment further, citing the ongoing police investigation.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information that may assist the investigation, including CCTV or dashcam footage, is urged to contact the Major Crime Unit via the Major Incident Public Portal. Alternatively, contact Kent Police on 01622 652006 quoting 10-1384.
