People in Kent endured a sleepless night as the forecast thunder storms arrived on time. The entire county was covered in heavy rain as the storms took hold in the early hours.
Keen gardeners were pleased as the heavy rain soaked into the parched soil. Despite the heavy rain the heatwave is set to continue into the weekend.
More storms are expected in Kent, with The Met Office issuing yellow weather
warnings for wind and rain, indicating a medium likelihood of storms, with up to
50mm of rainfall expected for the next 5 days.
Tuesday will become exceptionally hot and humid thereafter under a gentle south-easterly breeze.
Overnight, temperatures will remain high and conditions will stay warm and muggy under clear skies. Winds will be generally variable or light. It is then expected to become progressively hotter over the next few days, with potential records being broken on Thursday.
