Two Paramedics Injured After Car Evading Police Crashes

A suspect has been charged with multiple offences following a serious collision with an ambulance just off the M2 at Gillingham.

A patrol near to junction 3 of the coastbound carriageway became aware of a car reportedly being driven in a dangerous manner, shortly before 9pm on Friday 29th August 2025.

The officers signalled for the vehicle, a blue VW Golf, to stop using their blue lights. It did not stop and left the motorway at junction 4.

Just moments later, the vehicle was then involved in a smash with an ambulance on the roundabout which connects the slip road with the A278 Hoath Way. The impact of the collision flipped the ambulance onto its side.

Emergency services attended the scene and two ambulance crew members were taken to hospital with injuries described as non life-threatening.

Following the collision, emergency services also treated Mr Foster-Smith and another two males, aged 18 and 15, for their injuries before they were arrested and taken into custody.

On Sunday 31st August, Harry Foster-Smith, of Brunswick Street, Bexleyheath, was charged with three counts of causing injury by dangerous driving, aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, driving without insurance and possession of cannabis.

Mr Foster-Smith, 19, was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday 1 September.

An 18 year old man and a 15 year old boy, both from London, were bailed to return to the police station pending further enquiries.

Investigators are continuing to appeal for witnesses and motorists with dashcam footage, who have not yet spoken to police, to come forward.

Anyone with relevant information should call 01634 792209 quoting 46/151028/25.
