Two people have been struck by flying debris in Folkestone as high winds buffeted the Kent coast last night.
The two people were hit by rendering from the Grand Burstin Hotel, as it fell from the side of the building. A coach parked next to the hotel was also hit. Large sections of the Grand Burstin’s exterior have crumbled and collapsed onto the ground surrounding the building in Harbour Approach Road.
A large section of the Grand Burstin’s fascia appeared to have have come away from the main structure, with piles of debris being seen near the hotel entrance.
Police, paramedics and the fire service attended the scene at around 5pm and the area was cordoned off for safety reasons. The two people were treated by paramedics, it is thought that their injuries are not serious.
