The A2 has been closed coastbound in Kent following a collision involving multiple vehicles early this morning (Monday 5th December). The Canterbury bypass has been closed between the A2050 turn-offs for Canterbury West and East as emergency services deal with the accident.
The collision near the A28 Wincheap junction involves three vehicles and has resulted in spillage onto the road surface. The slip road onto the A28 is also closed with police, firefighters and ambulance crews on the scene. The road is expected to be closed for some while as the emergency services deal with the aftermath of the collision.
Traffic diversions have been put in place and motorists are advised to either avoid the area or allow longer for their journeys as the Monday morning rush-hour approaches.
At 8am this morning the A2 remains closed and there is a lot of congestion on surrounding roads.
