Visitors to Leybourne Lakes, near Snodland have been left frustrated after the popular country park has gone cashless.
It’s cash payment facility has been removed from the car park and replaced with a new system for visitors to pay using an app or card only. The car park was previously pay and display with the option to use the RingGo app.
The park, which is operated by the Tonbridge and Malling Leisure Trust (TMActive) on behalf of Tonbridge and Malling council, has also announced that it will also no longer sell season tickets but will honour any issued by the council until their expiry date.
Regular visitors to the park have bene angered at the changes. They say that it is discriminating against those who do not want to carry a mobile phone or use payment apps.
Another person suggested that this could be a potential breach of the 2010 Equality Act.
One visitor has called the changes “Disgraceful”.
There are also fears that criminals could tamper with the payment machines at night and put in illegal card readers to scam visitors.
TMActive have yet to comment on the changes.
