Changes In Kent As Labour Move In

Despite the South-East being traditionally a Conservative stronghold, there were changes afoot as the election results came in last night.

The Conservatives have managed to retain many of their districts, such as Orpington, Sevenoaks, Old Bexley & Sidcup and Tonbridge. But Labour have begun to move in as the map highlights some large areas of red support.

Labour have taken an almost clean sweep of the South edge of Kent, as they won seats in Ashford, Dover and Folkestone and Hythe as well as Hastings and Bexhill.

Labour have also taken large portions of North Kent, taking Gravesham, Dartford, Rochester and Strood and Sittingbourne and Sheppey.

There was one victory for the Liberal Democrats as they were victorious in Tunbridge Wells.

Although there was large support for Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party, no Reform candidate was able to get a win over the line.

With only a few areas left in the country to give their results, Labour have one of the largest majorities in modern times. Only time will tell if voters have made the right decision to choose a Labour Government or if this is just the result of many years of discontent under a Conservative Government.
