Driver Crashes Into Darent Valley Hospital

A driver has lost control of their car and crashed into the front of Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford. The incident happened at around 9.30am this morning.

Eye witnesses say that the car smashed through part of the glass panelling at the front of Darent Valley reception, where the Marks and Spencer food hall is based. A number of hospital staff came out in their scrubs and masks and were standing looking at the accident.

A police spokesperson said that one patient has been taken to A&E with minor injuries, whilst no-one else was injured. At least the patient did not have far to go.

The area has been cordoned off and a clean up operation is taking place.

A spokesperson for Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust said “We can confirm that a driver unintentionally hit the exterior side window of Marks & Spencer near the front entrance of Darent Valley Hospital in the early hours of today. All occupants were able to leave the vehicle with minor injuries and were taken to our A&E for treatment”.

The main hospital reception has since reopened, with a police investigation taking place to find out the circumstances of the incident.

A spokesperson for Marks and Spencer has denied that accident happened as people rushed to get the last bag of Percy Pigs sweets.
