The “Kent Nationalist Movement”, a far-right group staged another demonstration in Maidstone town centre on Saturday 13th June.
The protesters assembled at 1pm at the junction of King Street and Albion Place before marching through the town for the A demonstration, billed as “March Against Illegals Housed in Kent”
Publicity for the march did not mention any particular political affiliation, although the last event also in Maidstone, became a Restore Britain rally.
Thousands of people joined the march as they waved banners and held England flags aloft.
The group later moved to Week Street and the High Street, where chants including “send them back home” and “whose street? Our street?” could be heard.
They were met by counter-protesters outside the Metro Bank in Week Street, chanting “racists are not welcome here” and “this is what community looks like”.
Kent Police confirmed officers attended the planned protest, and a 30-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.
The Maidstone march took place on the same day as a series of demonstrations across the UK.
