The West Kent Hunt Saboteurs have reported another success in stopping a hunt taking place in Kent. They heard that the East Kent and West Street hunt were planning to go out hunting on Tuesday evening (30th Augusy), so they put a team together to track down the hunters.
The chase led them to Honey Pot Farm at Court Street, a known location to them. They spotted the hunters were mounted and ready to hunt on horse back by 6pm. They also saw two quad bikes were perched up waiting to assist the huntsman with the regular terrier men aboard.
The huntsman was hunting a small copse halfway down the hill. As they approached, the huntsman who was off his horse, soon remounted and headed to the canal.
They followed the hunt over the canal to another area where the hunt like to find foxes
Things took a turn for the worse when a different kind of cry came from hounds, as they had gone into the canal, which was thick with weed and they struggled to get free. The low level of water created a steep ledge that was preventing the dogs from getting out.
The Saboteurs team went into the canal to assist, and the hounds were soon rescued. With the hounds out, the hunt continued but with no scent it they appeared out of luck. By 8pm they had no real chances to kill a fox so the Kent Sabs were counting this one as a successful trip.
