Kent Police stopped a moped with learner plates in Maidstone yesterday after an registration plate notification was triggered. They found it was sezied not too long ago for not being insured. The moped had since been insured and reclaimed since but the policy was cancelled and the owner did not bother to take a further policy. The moped was sezied a second time and taken off the road.
People are now asking for the moped to be crushed, as the owner is clearly trying to work the system by taking out an insurance policy and then cancelling it immediately once they have the certificate of insurance. Sadly for owners trying to get away with scam, it does not work in the digital age when databases are updated on such a regular basis.
