Kent Police are investigating after a woman’s body was found Ackholt Wood near Aylesham Road in Snowdown. The serving PCSO was found dead in suspicious circumstances in the quiet Kent hamlet has been named as Julia James.
The South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended and pronounced the serving PCSO dead in the woodland.
Kent Fire and Rescue added ‘Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 18.22 to assist Kent Police in Aylesham Road, in Snowdown, Dover. We can confirm that one fire engine attended.’
Forensics teams have been seen in the area this morning, while a stretch of the route was closed between the junctions of Spinney Lane and The Crescent.
Detectives have confirmed that they are treating the mother-of-two death as suspicious.
Investigators have been seen guarding a field alongside the Aylesham Road, by a footpath in the direction of Aylesham, with one officer saying it was a “very big crime scene”.
Neighbours said Mrs James regularly exercised her dog along the country footpaths near to her home, with a post mortem due to be held to establish her cause of death.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area on Monday and Tuesday who may have seen something unusual or suspicious. They are urging witnesses to contact them on 0800 0514526
