Train Fire Near Dunton Green Stops Rail Services

A fire on a maintenance train in the early hours of Friday morning is causing havoc on the Sevenoaks / Orpington rail lines this morning.

Network Rail are working with the emergency services after an engineering train caught fire near Dunton Green, blocking both lines between Sevenoaks & Orpington.

Fortunately no one was injured and the fire brigade have now extinguished the fire. The Network Rail team are now working out how to move the train so they can do repairs and can get commuter services up and running again.

A replacement bus service is in operation and no trains can call at Dunton Green, Knockholt or Chelsfield station.

Flames are seen high in the sky. Anyone for breakfast?

Paddock Wood and Hastings services will divert via Bat & Ball and will not call at Orpington, and there is a reduced service between Tunbridge Wells and London.

The train was well ablaze

Grove Park, Bromley South, Hastings and Paddock Wood services may be delayed, revised or cancelled. There are also no Thameslink trains between Bickley, Swanley and Sevenoaks.

It is predicted that services will be delayed for some time as the rails may need repairing or be replaced.
