It is being reported that there are issues of violence at the Manston refugee Processing Centre, which is home to many people who have arrived across the Channel.
Just last weekend, a guard at the centre suffered a broken eye socket after being attacked. Other staff have been attacked by inmates and are in fear of constant attack. According to those nearby, the police are also being called to the Centre to deal with issues.
It comes as another 600 people arrived by dinghy on Monday. Photographs from the arrival show a number of tracksuit wearing young men waiting to be taken away by UK Border Force. There are hardly any women or children arriving across the Channel now.
It’s Time the government prioritised the safety of uk citizens
With the number of attacks on staff on the increase, it makes a mockery of those saying they are here to claim asylum. UK Hoe Secretary Suella Braverman, has promised to deal with the issue but we are still to see any changes.
The Home Office is using the former Fire Training and Development Centre for ‘triage’ purposes, as the site offers secure detention. The site is an ‘overspill’ from Tug Haven in Dover where people arriving to seek asylum outside of the proper process are first taken for basic supplies and health/identity checks.
