Tunbridge Wells FC Clubhouse Burns Down

The clubhouse at Tunbridge Wells Football club has been severely damaged after a fire last night.

The building was suffered heavy damage as the fire brigade fought to extinguish the flames. The club has a large support base in Tunbridge Wells with many events held at the clubhouse. It is expected to be out of action for some considerable time.

The club said “Tunbridge Wells FC can confirm that there has been a serious fire at the clubhouse on Thursday evening. Thankfully no-one was injured. The club would like to thank Kent Fire and Rescue Service for all of their efforts.”

Local football clubs nearby have offered to assist the club in their time of need.

Hawkenbury FC said “Hawkenbury Football Club are devastated at this awful news. Anything we can do to help please get in contact”.

Club supporter Marc Gilbert has set up a JustGiving fundraising appeal to help the club recover. He has set target of £10,000, saying “The club house had only recently been refurbished thorough a lot of time and effort personally from the club chairman and club secretary and other club officers and supporters. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
