The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued another amber heat health alert, as the hot weather continues across Kent.
The warning was put in place from 9am today to 9am on Wednesday (5th August), as the county continues to suffer with a lack of rain.
It comes as some areas of the county are expected to reach 30C, following on from last week’s peaks of 35C.
The health agency says significant impacts are likely across health and social care services due to the heat.
There may also be a rise in deaths, particularly among those aged 65 and over or with health conditions. Impacts on younger age groups are also possible. The amber heat-health alert also covers London, the East of England and the East Midlands.
The warning comes just days after an amber alert was issued last week. Another was put in place at the beginning of July following a heatwave last month.
In June, the Met Office issued a rare red weather warning for “extreme heat” as temperatures soared to almost 40C.
