Following a night of heavy rain and high winds, the gusts are expected to last all Monday. Weather experts are expecting Tuesday to still be windy with 40-45mph gusts until much lighter winds from Tuesday evening.
The peak of the storm hit Kent between 10pm and 1am last night with winds topping off at around 60mph. There was over 10mm of rain falling upon Kent, which is the most rain seen in the area for over a month.
Most places got off lightly from the stormy winds but Poundland in Gillingham was not so lucky as their ‘Poundland’ sign came crashing to the ground.
Luckily no-one was hurt and hopefully it should only cost £1 to put the sign back up.
The bad weather was caused by an area of low pressure coming in from the Atlantic Ocean. The rest of the week should enjoy relatively milder weather although there could be strong winds again next weekend.
