Iden Manor Nursing Home in Staplehurst is celebrating after its latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection awarded the service five “Good” ratings recognising the home as Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.
The CQC carried out an assessment between, which included speaking with residents, relatives, staff and the registered manager, gathering feedback from professionals, reviewing care and staff records, and observing day-to-day support in communal areas.
In its report, the CQC highlighted strong safety and quality systems across the home, including effective risk management and safeguarding processes designed to reduce harm and protect people from abuse. Inspectors also noted that medicines were managed safely, infection control procedures were followed, and regular health and safety checks were completed.
The report also praised the home’s approach to staffing, confirming there were enough suitably skilled and qualified staff, including registered nurses, to support people safely. Staff were described as safely recruited and supported with training, while registered nurses received clinical support and supervision to maintain professional development.
The inspection further recognised the home’s visible leadership and quality assurance systems, including audits, checks and quality reviews. The report noted that staff felt supported and confident to speak up, and that residents and relatives were asked for their views, with feedback used to develop and improve the service. The provider was also commended for its commitment to continuous improvement, including working towards Gold Standard Framework Accreditation.
