Six fire engines from Kent Fire & Rescue Service were called to a block of flats in Maidstone this afternoon after a large fire erupted
Fire crews tackled the blaze at Midhurst Court in Mote Road, after emergency services were called around 3.30pm.
Flames appeared to be coming from a flat on the fifth storey of the tower block, which is owned by Golding Homes housing association. Photos supplied by Graham Jarvis show extensive damage to the flat as well as to those directly above and below.
The fire brigade used a fire vehicle with an extension ladder to get closer to the flames. They managed to extinguish the fire just before 5pm. There is no update from the fire service at present if anyone was injured.
There are road closures in place and people are being advised to avoid the area tonight.
