Six men have been charged after memorial plaques were reported stolen from a Chatham Church.
The tablets, which commemorated local people who lost their lives in the First World War, went missing from Christ Church on Luton Road on Friday 23rd May 2025.
A police investigation led to them being recovered by Medway officers less than a week later. They have since been fully restored and are now displayed inside the church.
On Thursday 27th November, Martin Feri, 39, of Bryant Street, Chatham and Milan Duna, 34, of New Road, Chatham were charged with theft and criminal damage over £5000.
Mr Feri and Mr Duna were also charged with receiving stolen goods along with Abel Murui, 27, of Hallford Way, Dartford; Manase Marin, 26, of Priory Road, Dartford; Robert Hajek, 52, of Otway Street, Chatham and Rahid Anwar, 42, of Palm Drive, Rochester.
The men made their first court appearance together on Thursday 8th January 2026 and are due to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on Friday 6th February.
