The newspapers are full of it today. It’s not immigration. It’s not politics. It’s not even Christmas. No.
The story that is dominating the news today is Harry and Meghan’s documentary on Netflix. There are a lot of angry, annoyed people who are not happy about it. Now I haven’t seen it and I have no plans to watch it. Why? I couldn’t care less about it ..or them.
They are two people in a privileged position, who could have emigrated to America and lived a nice comfortable life. They could have got a job. They could have done some after dinner speaking or got some other well paid employment. Who would not pay to go to a dinner and listen to Prince Harry talk?
But rather than disappear into the wilderness, which is what they said they wanted, they took a large amount of money to throw their own family under the proverbial bus. And I do not think they can come back from this.
Families have rifts all the time – but they are rarely played out in front of the world. All they have done is to show themselves to be hypocrites. They complained about the paparazzi hassling them and not giving them privacy. So they decide to begin their new private life, by creating a documentary that will put them in the world spotlight!
If they want to highlight to the world that Meghan has suffered racism, then this is not the right way to go about it. Once again, all she has managed to do is alienate the public against her. This is not the way to get support.
For all the good that Prince Harry has done, it has unravelled in a spectacular way. He was the peoples champion with the Invictus games. For a while, he was more popular than Prince William. But not anymore. And I have no sympathy for him as he has brought it upon himself with a series of poor decisions.
For many of us, we are going to have to endure the Harry and Meghan story on the television for a number of weeks. Netflix will be making a fortune out of the pair of them, but they will not be getting a penny of my money. I have no interest in what happens next to the pair of them. But I hope they finally disappear into their private lives in America and we never see or hear from them again.
