Car Crashes Into A Fire Engine In Bearsted

A car has crashed into the front of a fire engine on Ashford Road (A20) by Lilk Hill around 10.30am on Wednesday morning (16th April). Two people were reportedly treated following the road traffic collision at Bearsted.

The fire engine, which was not believed to be responding to an emergency at the time, sustained damage to its front after being struck by a car.

Paramedics attended the scene and treated two individuals for injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening. It is currently unclear whether those treated were firefighters or occupants of the car.

Traffic along the busy A20 was heavily affected as the scene was cleared, with temporary delays and congestion in both directions. Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes while recovery and assessment work was carried out.

The fire engine is going to need some considerable work so will out of action for a long time.
