Roads in Kent have been left underwater this morning after significant heavy rain fell for hours overnight.
Kings Road in Herne Bay was submerged, with vehicles navigating through several inches of water as the drains struggled to take the strain.
There was also a layer of surface water on Stodmarsh Road near Canterbury, where cars are being seen carefully navigating through the floodwater.
Tonbridge Road, Snoll Hatch Road and the entrance to The Freehold in East Peckham are also flooded.
The Met Office has issued a new yellow weather warning for heavy rain across much of the country today. In Kent specifically, there is a risk of thunderstorms between 11am and 9pm today.
A spokesperson for the Met office said “Heavy showers and thunderstorms may lead to flooding and disruption. Motorists should expect heavy spray and sudden flooding that could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.”
The weather is expected to ease up later in the week, with no further weather warnings currently in place beyond today.
